Unbreakable

Unbreakable explores resilience, migration, and the reconstruction of identity through the artist’s experience of moving from Mexico to Canada. The composition brings together the façade of the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City and the Toronto subway, allowing two places associated with different stages of the artist’s life to coexist within the same visual space. Their overlap reflects the experience of carrying fragments of home while adapting to an unfamiliar environment and developing a sense of belonging between places.

Through graffiti-inspired lettering, expressive marks, and a central hybrid figure, the work presents identity as something continuously transformed rather than left behind. The figure emerges through layers of cultural memory and urban imagery, embodying the resilience required to adapt without erasing one’s origins. Unbreakable reflects on migration as a process of transformation, where past and present become intertwined in the construction of a new sense of self.
